College of Packaging and Material Engineering is one of the most important College in Hunan University of Technology (Another one is College of Packaging Design and Art). HUT was founded in 1978 with the name of Zhuzhou Institute of Technology. It is the only university which is characterized with the higher education of packaging technology in China. Packaging program was implanted in 1985 in HUT. In 1987,Department of Packaging was established. In 2000, College of Packaging and Printing was born. In 2006, ZIT changed his name as HUT with the approval of Ministry of Education of China. Our college also changed the name as College of Packaging and Material Engineering. Now, we have 7 majors for Bachelor degree, 5 for Master degree. We have now about 2500 students in major Packaging, Printing and Materials.
The National Supervision Committee for Higher Education of Packaging, Packaging Education Committee of China Packaging Federation, China Packaging Technology Training Center and other associations are established in our University.
Education and research areas cover over a larger variety of the domain, such as packaging processes, packaging materials, packaging design, packaging machines,container design, distribution packaging, packaging economy, packaging and environment, packaging testing, packaging printing, printing technology, printing materials, etc.
The strong relationship with the packaging industry is our one of characteristics.
The 21st IAPRI World Conference on Packaging will take place between 19-22 June in Zhuhai, China. It is hosted by Jinan University and Hunan University of Technology. For more information please click here
The IAPRI Symposium in Lausanne (9-12 May) attracted delegates over 130 delegates from 20 countries. There were 99 papers in total out of which 69 are oral.
